Our Story

Game Plan, Inc. was founded in 2015 as an after-school program for student athletes at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD. Our programming was created to show these students they were more than athletes by teaching them entrepreneurship and introducing them to other careers. By doing these things, students are in better positions to win in life. Winning in life is different for each student, so whatever goals they want to achieve, we want to give them the tools and strategies to make those dreams become reality.

In addition to programming for student athletes, Game Plan expanded its programming kicking off its Pilot Project Management Program for its inaugural cohort of 20 high school juniors in 2018. In this program, students actively engaged in project management by going through a 20-week project management program, which included a 5-week project management course and a 15-week hands on project with Build Your Own Brand (BYOB), an organization that serves minority millennials.

During this project, students had certain responsibilities such as planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring, creating project schedules, and executing the project for BYOB's National Conference. The projects also improved on their critical employment skills, such as problem-solving, leadership, critical thinking, and communication, which are important skills to prepare them to enter and excel in the workforce.

At the end of the program, with the help of its partners, Game Plan flew the students to Atlanta, GA to volunteer at BYOB's 3-day Conference and visited four nearby Atlanta universities.

Since 2019, our project management program has served over 100 students with a 95% attendance rate. They have volunteered over 650 community service hours, completed 10 projects, and received project management agile certifications through a partnership with IBM.
